| In this remodel and 1,700 square foot addition to a single-family home, the challenge was in adding a second story without creating something visually out of balance. A primary design element is a dual purpose screen, used as siding and a balustrade for a new roof deck. This modernizes the existing home, unifies old with new and creates a composition of light and dark. The result is a better connection to the surrounding outdoors and more space for a multi-generational family. |
