Craig W. Hartman, FAIA
Craig Hartman

Craig W. Hartman, FAIA, joined Skidmore Owings and Merrill in 1973 and is a design partner based in SOM’s San Francisco Office. His work consistently adheres to a rigorous modern vocabulary that acknowledges issues of place involving climate, physical and cultural landscape, and historic precedent.

Mr. Hartman’s work has been recognized with over 100 awards for design, which, in addition to 8 national AIA Honor Awards, includes two Gold LEED® Certifications and AIA awards for environmental sustainability at Treasure Island and the University of California, Merced. He also received a Federal Design Achievement Award in the 2000 Presidential Design Awards Program.

In 2001, Hartman became the youngest recipient of the Maybeck Award, an award presented periodically by the California Chapter of the AIA to an individual in recognition of “lifetime achievement in architectural design.” During the dedication ceremony for The Cathedral of Christ the Light in September 2008, the Vatican’s Knighthood for Service to Society (St. Sylvester) was bestowed upon Hartman by Pope Benedictus XVI.

Gwynne Pugh
Gwynne Pugh

Gwynne Pugh has been practicing architecture, planning, civil and structural engineering since 1971. Co-founder of the firm Pugh + Scarpa, with offices in Santa Monica and Charlotte, North Carolina, he is responsible for the urban design, design review, technical and production management and general project administration, of all of the firm’s projects.

Mr. Pugh is past chair of, and continues to serve on the Santa Monica Planning Commission where he has spent the last four years updating its Land Use and Circulation Element. He also is an Urban Design Consultant to the cities of San Diego, Carson, Long Beach, and Los Angeles.

Over the last six years PUGH + SCARPA has received more than 40 major design awards, including: fifteen national AIA awards. The firm was a finalist for the UNESCO World Habitat Award, one of ten firms selected worldwide. The firm was selected as the National and State Firm of the Year for 2010 by the AIA. Mr. Pugh has lectured throughout the United States and in Europe.

Ron Radziner, FAIA
Ron Radzinger

Ron Radziner, FAIA, Design Principal of Marmol Radziner, established his Los Angeles-based firm with Leo Marmol in 1989, launching a unique design-build practice led by architects. Since its inception, the 75-person firm has grown to offer a range of design services including landscape design, interior design, furniture design, and prefabricated housing. Marmol Radziner has completed numerous contemporary green homes across California, as well as local community projects such as The Accelerated School, TreePeople Center for Community Forestry, and LAX First Flight child care center.
Ron received his Master of Architecture in 1986 at the University of Colorado and his Bachelor of Science in 1984 at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. In 2007, he was elevated to the College of the Fellows of the AIA. Ron was honored as an inductee of the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 2009.

Ron speaks at universities and conferences nationwide as a leader in innovative architecture, interiors, and landscape design.

Donald Wexler, FAIA
Don Wexler

Donald Wexler, FAIA, was raised in Minneapolis and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1950 after serving in the Navy during World War II. He moved to Los Angeles to work for Richard Neutra, and subsequently moved to Palm Springs to work for William Cody. In 1952, he partnered with Richard Harrison, creating the firm of Wexler & Harrison. That partnership dissolved amicably in 1961, and Mr. Wexler formed Donald A. Wexler Associates in 1963. He developed an expertise in prefabricated steel construction, best visualized in the Alexander Steel Houses. Other projects include the Palm Springs Airport, Spa Hotel Bath House and the Canyon Country Club Clubhouse, as well as many commercial, institutional and public buildings.
